Our Certified Pet Nutrition Advisors |
|
Certified Pet Nutrition Advisor. Sound a bit hoity-toity? Can there really be such a person at each Pet Supplies “Plus” store or is this just another fancy name for a customer service representative? You be the judge.
Our Certified Pet Nutrition Advisors take the title seriously.
Rather than going through training offered by the companies behind our pet food brands, we felt it was important to find a third-party expert who’s only vested interest was in the well being of your pet.
Each of our certified pet nutrition advisors has gone through months of training, and, yes, they had to pass a series of tests to earn the certification. The training program was developed and is led by Dr. Sarah Abood, co-author of the Manual of Veterinary Dietetics and small animal clinical nutritionist at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Armed with the new certification, our team members are now able to interpret pet foods labels, provide nutritional assessments of individual dogs and cats and offer diet recommendations for individual animals based on those assessments. They also know their limitations and know when to suggest veterinary care for your pet.
Not only can they interpret pet food labels, they can help you crack the code on what products are right for your pets. Our pet nutrition advisors can answer questions like:
- What’s the difference between organic and natural pet food and is my dog really going to live longer if I make the switch?
- Is my cat considered adult or senior? Is he ready to join AARP for cats or does he just need different nutrients in his food?
- If my cat is overweight and keeps upchucking hairballs, should I buy the food for weight management or the one for hairball control?
There are so many choices. Each Pet Supplies “Plus” store has at least one Certified Pet Nutrition Advisor on staff to help you make the right choices for your pet.
